  • FUJIFILM X-H2S

    FUJIFILM X-H2S

This is my full time hybrid camera, I use it as designed… a hybrid. All of my YouTube videos are recorded with this, and when it comes to “proper” photography this is the camera I pick up! Prior to this I had an X-T4. The main improvements of the X-H2s for me are the 4k 120p, IBIS and F-Log2

  • FUJIFILM 16-55mm F2.8

    FUJIFILM 16-55mm F2.8

This is the lens I use for just about everything, its super versatile and pretty fast too for a zoom, all of my YouTube videos sat at my desk are recorded with this lens. The autofocus is fast and reliable and the image quality is seriously impressive. If I had to pick and con… maybe the weight, you know its in your camera bag

  • Fujifilm 10-24mm f4

    Fujifilm 10-24mm f4

This is the lens I pick up when I need that extra width that the 16-55mm just can’t offer. A lot of the footage that is shot away from my desk is frequently this lens, the extra width this gives is great for Vlogging and the OIS is a great bonus.

  • Rode VideoMicro

    Rode VideoMicro

Likely the part of my kit most in need of updating. However for such a cheap little mic I think the audio quality is pretty good. This mic has been a part of the channel since day 1. I like that fact that it doesn’t require a battery as no doubt… id forget one and often be left stuck. From desk shots, to outside to voiceovers this mic has had my back!

  • Aputure 120D II + Lightdome II

Aputure 120D II + Lightdome II

I remember getting home, setting this combo up after buying it and thinking to myself. I’ve just spent £1000 on essentially a lightbulb. However the difference this has made to my videos is very noticeable. The light isn’t all that bright but combined with the huge soft box lets out the softest of light which is exactly what you need.

  • Aputure Mc mini led panel

    Aputure Mc mini led panel

In terms of the headshot YouTube set up I don’t always use this. However its so versatile it helps a lot with B-Roll and also as a key light when in a hotel away from the main lights. The magnets on the back are super strong and stick to all sorts to try and get a good angle. The silicon soft box cover is suprisingly good at giving off a lovely soft light.

the fun cameras

  • Fujifilm x100v

I can’t explain just how much I love this camera. its an absolute staple of my kit. This is my most used camera from a photography perspective. The ND filter, built in flash, weather sealing, rangefinder looks, 35mm make for a unique camera that I struggle to leave at home. I quite often use the WCL to get a 28mm focal length.

  • LEICA M10

    LEICA M10

Having previously owned a Leica M240 that wasn’t quite cutting it I decided to move up to the Leica M10. At this point I haven’t owned it long and im definitely still in the honeymoon period. Initial thoughts are that I love the thinner design, the white balance appears to be much improved and the 020 viewfinder actually seems pretty practical. Main downside so far is the battery life, appears to be pretty poor.

  • LECIA M6

You’d quite literally need to fight me for this camera, its my pride and joy when it comes to my kit. There is something about the feel of using this camera that hasn’t got old. There’s a lot of hype surrounding these cameras, but for me the mechanical feel and the results it more than lives up to the hype. I chose the M6 over the M4 for the built in meter, and the 0.72 viewfinder so that I could use 28mm lenses.

  • ROLLEI 35

    ROLLEI 35

My version is from 1968 and of all the film cameras I’ve owned this is the one that I have shot the most film through. The small pocketable size, form factor and outrageously good Zeiss lens make this camera an absolute pocket rocket. So good that we now have two of them as Clare now has her own.

  • VOIGTLANDER 28mm f2 ULTRON

    VOIGTLANDER 28mm f2 ULTRON

One of two lenses that I use on my Leica bodies, the 28mm focal length for me is my favourite, I find it super versatile and suits just about any occasion. The f2 is great for portraits and optically I find this lens to be pretty good! No complaints at all! and maybe 6x cheaper than the Leica alternative.

  • VOIGTLANDER 50MM F1.5 NOKTON

    VOIGTLANDER 50MM F1.5 NOKTON

Paired with the 28mm this lens rounds off my favourite two prime set up. The f1.5 on this lens is both sharp and packing a lot of character. Main downside for me with this lens in the focusing ring, it lacks and tab and is more of a ridged ring, combined with a long throw I find that its a little slow to focus, however its easy to focus even at f1.5.

accessories

  • MacBook Pro 16" - M1 PRO 16gb - 512gb

    MacBook Pro 16" - M1 PRO 16gb - 512gb

My daily driver! I upgraded from the first M1 MacBook for the larger screen and tbh I kinda regret it a little, this MacBook doesn’t fit in my camera bags and I often find if you get out and about that its a little too big. However its an absolute beast, battery life is bonkers. You can quite easily edit an entire video in a coffee shop and still have 50% battery.

  • samsung t5 1tb

    samsung t5 1tb

Having skimped a little on the hard drive inside my MacBook for mainly price reasons I then use this hard drive for my active edits. I do my entire edit from the drive and have never had any issues. Once and video has been completed it then moves onto a bigger drive…

  • Lacie 4tb hdd

Fully edited footage will be moved off the Samsung t5 to this. Its supposed to be rugged, although I haven’t checked… but its reasonably quick and a good size for a reasonable cost. A lot of my photography sits on this drive, although all the good photos sit in the cloud as well

  • Prograde CF & SD Cards

    Prograde CF & SD Cards

Recently having done a little research I reached out to the guys at Prograde and they hooked me up with some of their best cards. I’ve been using them for a few months now and love them. The X-H2s file sizes can be crazy so make sure you get a decent sized card!

  • Peak Design Carbon Fibre Tripod

    Peak Design Carbon Fibre Tripod

I hate… tripods. They are heavy and get in the way. In the past I’d do basically anything that I could to not take a tripod with me on trips. However this tripod has changed that, the collapsed size is so small it fits in the water bottle holder on most bags, and weight wise its not far off either. This tripod revolutionised tripods for me. However it does come at a cost!

  • Peak Design Capture Clip v3

    Peak Design Capture Clip v3

If you’ve never tried one of these then you should. I frequently find myself with multiple cameras when shooting a video, and its not easy having two around your neck. The capture clip is super comfortable and is surprisingly good for things like hiking.

  • Peak Design Straps

    Peak Design Straps

3rd Peak Design product in a row, and the 3rd that’s a gamer changer. At times I’ve owned over 10 cameras and having 10 straps for them would be painful. These are super comfortable and easy to swap between cameras. I have the standard size for the X-H2s and the Leash for all the others.

  • LowePro ProTactic 450 AW II

    LowePro ProTactic 450 AW II

I’ve gone through a lot of rucksack style bags however this is the one for me that has stuck. I personally really love rear entry bags. I have my fair share of back issues and find the support and straps of this bag to be far better than other rucksacks that i’ve tried

  • Billingham Hadley Small

    Billingham Hadley Small

My favourite shoulder bag, easily big enough to fit two lenses and a body. The outer pockets are surprisingly big and it think it fits the photographer aesthetic really nicely. The leather straps are super easy to operate one handed. A little expensive but my most used bag. Owned it for over 5 years and it looks brand new. Built to last a lifetime.
